Is Personal Training Worth It? 8 Benefits That Say It Is

Updated: Nov 14, 2022

Crafting an effective workout routine can be equally confusing and intimidating, no matter if you are a beginner or an experienced athlete. The confusion might lie with where to begin, how to navigate the machines and equipment, or why you might not be seeing results.

Whether you're new to the fitness world or want to see improved results, personal training can help you achieve your goals safely and effectively.

What Is Personal Training?

In personal training sessions, coaches work with you either individually or in small groups to create a customized and engaging exercise routine that works for your body. They can help you reach your fitness goals, whether that be weight loss, toning, strength training, etc. Not only do they help you with a fitness regimen, but they mediate your technique and form to ensure that you're working out properly and safely.

1-On-1 Personal Training

In standard personal training, you work 1-on-1 with a coach. You receive personal and direct attention in every aspect of your workout, as your coach will provide immediate feedback on your movements and technique.

Small Group Personal Training

In small group personal training, your sessions involve a few other members with similar needs and goals. Small group training includes the same close attention and feedback as 1-on-1 sessions but provides members more personal space to practice on their own, as well as being more cost-efficient.

Benefits of Personal Training

Accountability

Training sessions provide you with more motivation to show up and work out because you have a scheduled obligation. According to an analysis done in the Journal of Patient Preference and Adherence, subjects were more likely to lose weight when involved in a supervised program that had social support and nutrition advice.

Education

Personal training allows you access to your coach's knowledge and feedback tailored directly to your body. Our FS coaches are highly trained and educated in strength and conditioning, exercise science, nutrition, injury prevention, and Applied Functional Science.

Proper Movement Training

In order to get the most out of our workouts and see results, you have to make sure you're performing the exercises correctly and safely. Your coach will first teach you how to do your exercises and then oversee your form when it's your turn. This will also help you to continue working out effectively even after your sessions are over.

Great for Beginners

Personal training is especially worth it if you're new to fitness or don't know where to start in your journey. It's perfectly normal to feel nervous trying something new, but a good fitness coach will support you and boost your confidence along the way. Fit Societe is designed with beginners in mind, from our free consults and body evaluations to our personal training and structured classes, our coaches guide you through it all.

Long-Term Realistic Goal Setting

If you've ever set a goal and haven't stuck with it, you're not alone. Here are a few mistakes people make:

  1. Setting unrealistic goals

  2. Setting goals that are too broad

  3. Setting unmeasurable goals

  4. Setting goals without a time-frame

Coaches help you to outline SMART goals, or goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timed.

Nutritional Guidance

Proper nutrition along with exercise is essential for optimal health and wellness. Studies show the link between nutrition and better physical performance, including improved muscle regeneration, enhanced cognition, and reduced inflammation in the body. It might seem overwhelming to have to focus on exercise AND nutrition at the same time, but personal coaches make your life easier by offering guidance on both!

Here's a sneak peek into the nutritional knowledge FS has to offer:

Support System

It's widely known that having a support system has many benefits for your mental well-being. Our families, friends, and significant others tend to bring us joy and motivation, so why not have that same support directly related to fitness?

A study shows that social support related to exercise increases self-efficacy, improves performance, enhances motivation and enjoyment, and overall encourages more physical activity.

A personal coach is your number one supporter when it comes to your health and wellness. They do more than just help you meet your fitness goals; they are there to be a pillar of support for you in your journey.

Flexible Schedule

Lastly, if you have a busy or inconsistent schedule, personal training is perfect to keep you on track according to your own calendar. You are in charge of your personal training sessions; you aren't tied down to attending classes at specific times. You can choose the day, time, and how often you want to attend sessions.
